The Epilepsy Research Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Clare Walton as its new Director of Research & Impact. Dr Walton brings extensive experience in delivering neurological research strategies and a strong commitment to advancing the study of epilepsy.
Dr Walton has worked in medical research charities across the neurology sector since 2011 and brings with her expertise in strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, science communications, research funding and governance. Clare was formerly the Head of Research at the MS Society, where she advocated for diversity and capacity building in multiple sclerosis research. She also developed strategic research partnerships while in a leadership role at the Alzheimer’s Society. Clare earned a PhD in cellular neuroscience from Rockefeller University in New York City, focusing on neural stem cells and brain repair in songbirds.
In her new role at the Epilepsy Research Institute, Clare will develop and oversee our research strategy, strengthening the epilepsy research ecosystem through strategic partnerships and investment. Her leadership will be instrumental in driving forward the Institute’s mission to radically advance research into epilepsy.
