Central to the work of the Epilepsy Research Institute is a culture of advocating and actioning the research priorities of people affected by epilepsy through our Shape Network PPIE group. A key part of this is the involvement of people affected by epilepsy in our annual grant round. All researchers who express an interest in applying for funding from the Institute will be invited to a virtual Application Clinic. Researchers will use this opportunity to present their work and ask for feedback on their application.
The Epilepsy Research Institute is therefore now inviting members of our Shape Network to get involved in this annual research funding process through the Application Clinics. If you have experience of living with epilepsy – either because you have epilepsy yourself, or because someone close to you has the condition – we want to hear from you!
This role is open to Shape Network members only; If you’re not a member you can still sign up to our Shape Network here and then apply.
By joining our Application Clinics, you’llhave the chance to influence the researcher’s final applications and therefore the projects that are funded by the Institute.
What’s involved?
We’ll ask you to read through a short summary of the research application and join a virtual discussion (on Zoom) to discuss the researcher’s plans and provide feedback.
Who can get involved?
All you need is experience of living with epilepsy and an interest in research. You do not need an understanding of the research process or the science of epilepsy to get involved.
