The survey aims to assess the current capacity in epilepsy research and help us to gain a better understanding of the research ecosystem.
There are an estimated 600 researchers currently working in epilepsy in the UK – less than 10% of the 6,000+ researchers working in dementia. We need to establish what is required to strengthen and expand the network of epilepsy researchers and support growth for the ecosystem. To ensure we get the true picture, we need YOUR input.

The Institute’s Capacity Building theme aims to transform the epilepsy research ecosystem in the UK and internationally through informed, strategic interventions. It will elevate and expand multidisciplinary networks, generate opportunities and foster a progressive and inclusive research culture.
Results from this survey will help inform this work by clarifying the current capacity in epilepsy research to ensure we start from the correct baseline. It will also explore the facilitators and barriers to engaging with and undertaking research. This is your opportunity to shape the work of the Institute.
The Institute wants to hear from:
– Researchers currently working in epilepsy
– Researchers who have previously worked in epilepsy
– Researchers or clinicians who have never worked in epilepsy
By creating a stronger and larger network of epilepsy researchers we will drive greater investment so that together, we can radically advance research into epilepsy.
