Professor Mike Cousin is the Chair of Neuronal Cell Biology and Head of Pre-Clinical Research at the Muir Maxwell Epilepsy Centre at the University of Edinburgh. Mike’s works to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the fusion, retrieval and trafficking of synaptic vesicles within the central nervous system, which are central to brain communication. A central theme of Mike’s research is determining how dysfunction in this process culminates in epilepsy, and how targeting these events could lead to new therapeutic interventions. Mike is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees.
