Dr Francesca Chaloner
Why the aged brain is vulnerable to neurodegeneration and circuit abnormalities, focusing on neural-circuit plasticity processes and how these go wrong in ageing and disease.
Dr Francesca Chaloner is a research associate in the UK Dementia Research Institute at Imperial College London. Dr Chaloner is currently a part of Barnes Lab researching why the aged brain is vulnerable to neurodegeneration and how neural-circuits are altered in aging and disease. She is also currently researching the link between Alzheimer’s disease and Epilepsy. Her current focus is dissecting underlying physiological differences which contribute to hyperactivity and seizure-activity in models of Alzheimer’s Disease and Epilepsy.
