using novel genetic therapies to tackle the problems caused by epilepsy at the single cell and circuit level, using sleep as a sensitive measure for recovery
Dr Jose Prius Mengual is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford. Dr Prius Mengual is currently investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic forms of epilepsy and how they relate to sleep at molecular level, with a specific focus on cellular stress genes. Previously he has investigated the role of sleep in cognitive function and how disrupted sleep is linked to a broad range of neurological, neurodegenerative, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr Prius Mengual has explored how cellular stress modulates sleep need and synaptic activity.
