Development and application of novel imaging and electrophysiological approaches to detect seizure activity and spreading depolarisations in preclinical models of epilepsy. Gene therapy approaches to treat drug-refractory forms of epilepsy.
Dr Rob Wykes is a Principal Research Fellow at the Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on developing and refining technologies to enhance the detection and study of seizures and spreading depolarisation in epilepsy. In addition, Dr Wykes also researches advanced therapeutic interventions for refractory epilepsy, exploring gene therapy and neuromodulation as promising treatment pathways. Recently, his work has focused on graphene-based transistor arrays to investigate the impact of seizure-associated spreading depolarisations in epilepsy.
