Professor Laura Andreae
How synaptic connections and neuronal circuits are formed during development, and how these processes may be altered in neurodevelopmental disorders
Prof Laura Andreae is a Professor of Developmental Neuroscience at King’s College London and is part of the Institute’s Scientific Advisory Committee. Prof Andreae’s research lab is interested in how synaptic connections and neuronal circuits are formed, and how these processes may be altered in neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, epilepsy, and schizophrenia. She uses a variety of techniques, including electrophysiology and advanced imaging techniques, to investigate how neuronal activity regulates early synapse formation. Prof Andreae aims to further understanding of the mechanisms that lead to alterations in neural circuit development and function in genetic models of neurodevelopmental disorders.
