Tour de ERUK

Throughout September, Epilepsy Research UK supporters cycled the distance between all the ERUK funded institutions to raise vital funds for research into epilepsy. Together they covered well over 1,000 miles and raised over £5,000!

ERUK is currently funding vital research into epilepsy in over 20 institutions spanning the length of the UK, from Southampton to Edinburgh. To celebrate and support the incredible work of these research centres, we launched the ‘Tour de ERUK’, our very own virtual cycling challenge. Our ever-brilliant supporters rode a section, or the whole, of the 935.1 miles between all the institutions we fund and many of our funded researchers (virtually) pedalled alongside them!

Last year Dr Khalid Hamandi, one of our 2020 Endeavour Project Grant holders, took on the London Marathon for ERUK. This year he donned his helmet to fundraise for life saving, life changing research once again:

“Having taken part in the London Marathon, I know how inspiring it is to come together as a community and fundraise for a cause we all believe in. A life free from epilepsy will only be possible through research. I was on my bike thinking of how each mile and each pound is getting us closer to new discoveries!”
