Dafydd Elgan Jones

On the 14th of May 2013, we lost our son Dafydd Elgan Jones (or ‘Dafs’ to his friends) at the young age of 25. He passed away in his sleep at home to SUDEP. It was and still is a devastating loss to us as a family and his friends. We think and talk about him everyday.

Dafydd was diagnosed with epilepsy at 9 years old, mainly suffering with night seizures. Despite this, he tried to live his life as normal as possible.
He was a talented artist and went on to study Art in college but ultimately deciding to pursue cookery instead and become a chef, something he really enjoyed doing.

Aside from cooking, he loved anything to do with films, many nights were spent at the cinema, he could watch and talk about them all day. He loved popping to HMV and buying DVDs to add to his massive collection!

In 2016 his sister wanted to raise funds for Epilepsy Research by trekking to Everest Base Camp, after a little persuading her eldest brother joined too. We raised further funds by having a stall at the local Lifeboat Day, selling crafts made by Dafydd’s mum. Between this and the donations from family and friends, the total now stands at over £23,000.

We’d like to think that Dafydd would be proud of us all. Every single penny counts to fund vital research into epilepsy which is why we’ve opened this memorial fund.

We miss and love you every single day Dafs.
