Noah Green

Noah, our only child, passed away unexpectedly on 7th April 2023, aged 19 years.

Noah’s first seizure came just 2 months before his 17th Birthday, and despite regular reviews and increases in his medication, he struggled to get the seizures under control. The night he passed away, he went to bed following the usual “Good night, Love you”, and it was a seizure during the night that so cruelly took him away from us. His death was classified as SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), which we were not aware of as a complication of epilepsy.

Noah was bright, had an amazing sense of humour, and was a very caring young man who could be quite laid back at times. He excelled in everything he put his mind to… everything from swimming and karate, playing the drums and guitar, to his art and academically. Growing up he was always smiling, and enjoyed life to the full.

However, as he got older, Noah started to struggle with his mental health, and during his GCSE year this began to impact him severely. We would later discover this was related to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), something that is comorbid with epilepsy. Despite these challenges, he managed to achieve amazing exam results and also went on to college and gained an art UAL qualification, all during a global pandemic. He was a fighter! He made us so proud with his achievements.

As a family, we are completely devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss of Noah. We all feel that it is really important to raise awareness and fund research to try to help prevent other families from having to endure such a tragic loss. We want to keep Noah’s memory alive and plan to raise money and awareness in his name.
