John Duncan is gearing up for an inspiring London to Brighton Cycle Ride in September 2025 to raise vital funds for the Epilepsy Research Institute.
Professor Duncan is a consultant neurologist specialising in epilepsy at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He’s also Chair of the Epilepsy Research Institute’s Scientific Advisory Committee, helping to identify the best research projects to fund. By taking on this challenge and raising money for vital research, he says he’ll be pedalling “towards a brighter future filled with hope and possibility for those with epilepsy.”
He’s not just doing it on any bike though. John’s added extra meaning to his mission by choosing a particularly significant ride.
John says: “I have worked for the NHS for 46 years and will be riding the bike I bought with my first paycheck as a Junior Doctor in Oxford! Let us see if we can both make it! Everyone’s support will be a real inspiration for me.”
“This event is more than just a cycling challenge; it’s a powerful statement of solidarity and commitment to those affected by epilepsy. The money I raise will directly impact the lives of countless individuals and families navigating the complexities of epilepsy.”
If you want to sponsor John and help with his goal of raising £5,000 for the Epilepsy Research Institute, please go to his Just Giving page.
Every pound brings John closer to the Brighton finish line – and helps drive the breakthroughs that people with epilepsy desperately need.
