Involve the Shape Network in your research

Patient and public involvement with the Shape Network

Research needs people living with epilepsy, their families, and carers. The Epilepsy Research Institute’s Shape Network is the largest community of research-interested people affected by epilepsy in the UK. By sharing opportunities with the 400+ members of the Shape Network, we can support you to engage with people affected by epilepsy, recruit participants to your study and involve the epilepsy community in shaping your research.

We can support you to:

  • Engage with people affected by epilepsy – Share your research ideas and findings through articles, videos or presentations
  • Recruit participants to your study – From questionnaires to clinical trials, the Shape Network are ready to take part in research
  • Involve the epilepsy community – The Shape Network can help to ensure your research is relevant, meaningful and high-impact by working with you to plan, design, carry out and disseminate your research through patient and public involvement (PPI) activities

PPI activities the Shape Network can be involved in include:

  • Idea generation and priority setting
  • Providing feedback on research grant proposals and lay summaries
  • Being public co-applicants
  • Sitting on project steering or advisory groups
  • Reviewing clinical trial protocols and participant information
  • Contributing to research papers

The Epilepsy Research Institute can also partner with you on external funding applications to provide a comprehensive PPI package, including recruitment, ongoing management, facilitation, and evaluation of PPI activities for your project. If you’d like to explore this option, please contact us prior to the funding deadline so that we can work with you to budget for the PPI support.

Please note, we can only support requests from reputable research organisations, such as universities and research hospitals. We do not support market research.
