This Giving Tuesday, we’re sharing Gracie’s powerful story and the many ways you can help drive the breakthroughs that could change the future for people living with epilepsy. |
In April, Gracie ran the Madrid Marathon just months after tragically losing her sister Clara to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). With three people dying from epilepsy every day in the UK, she was determined to change these statistics.
Garcie turned her grief into action and, with the help of friends and family, was able to raise an incredible ÂŁ78,000 for vital epilepsy research.
But she also learned that half of the most promising research goes unfunded.
Breakthroughs in epilepsy aren’t held back by a lack of ideas or dedication – they’re held back by a lack of funding. Despite the amazing amount Gracie raised, she saw firsthand just how much more is needed, and how many life-changing projects are waiting for support.
Last year alone, the Epilepsy Research Institute funded eight promising epilepsy projects – but we had to turn away nine more potentially life-changing proposals. For every breakthrough, another never made it to the lab.
This Giving Tuesday, we need your help to change that by donating.
Did you know?
If just half of the people who receive this email gave ÂŁ30 each, the Institute could fund a full PhD studentship at one of their national Doctoral Training Centres, empowering the next generation of scientists to drive life-changing epilepsy research.
#GiveYourWay
You don’t have to do one big thing to make a difference – every action counts. Here are three ways to #GiveYourWay and support vital epilepsy research.
Monthly donations provide steady support for life-changing epilepsy research. Every contribution, no matter the size, adds up to real-world impact.
Take on a marathon, cycle, or personal challenge in memory of someone you love, like I did, and raise funds to drive breakthroughs in epilepsy research.
Include the Epilepsy Research Institute in your Will to make a lasting difference for future generations affected by epilepsy. Download our gift in wills leaflet.
This Giving Tuesday, your support for the Institute could be the difference between research that happens – and research that doesn’t. Please consider making a donation today. Thank you.
